Hard Candy release

m_4minutes-high-res1s200x200.jpgMadonna’s 11th studio album for Warner Bros. Records “HARD CANDY” is scheduled for Australian release on April 26. “HARD CANDY” (the follow-up to Madonna’s “CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR” which debuted at No. 1 in 30 countries and sold over 8 million copies), has been described as a brilliant up-tempo collection of 12 songs in which Madonna remains ensconced in club mode but this time adds an urban hip hop beat in collaboration with musical partners Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes and Nate “Danja” Hills. The debut single, the pulsating “4 Minutes”, will be released at the end of March.

“The title is a juxtaposition of tough and sweetness…kind of like I’m gonna kick your ass but it’s going to make you feel good. And of course, I love candy” laughed the material girl.

Madonna, a multi-Grammy-Award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, cultural icon, world renowned stage performer, video visionary, children’s book author, director and documentary film maker, has sold 200 million albums in the course of her unprecedented two- decade-plus career and is slated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10.

Madonna and Guy dining out

Madonna and Guy Ritchie were photographed heading into dinner in London last night. Her rep already denied rumors that the couple is splitting up, but a little arm-in-arm evidence never hurts. Last night they had something to celebrate, too, because she announced her bold new way of releasing Hard Candy. For the week leading up to its April 28 release date, Vodaphone subscribers in Europe will be able to buy one of her songs per day using their mobile phones. Unfortunately, those of us in the US will just have to patiently wait that extra week for our Candy fix.

Madonna´s marriage not in trouble

madguy.jpgNEW YORK (AP) — Madonna is squashing suggestions that her marriage may be ending. “I am delighted to confirm that Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ritchie remain happily married,” the pop star’s spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg, said in a statement Monday.

The news media and blogosphere have been speculating on the couple’s status; on Monday, the British newspaper The Sun published a gossipy article on its Web site with the headline: “Madge’s marriage `hangs by a thread.’”

Ritchie, 39, attended neither Madonna’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last week nor her star-studded United Nations fundraiser in early February.

Rosenberg explained that, until recently, Madonna, 49, and Ritchie were living in separate countries: The Material Girl toured the U.S. to promote her upcoming album “Hard Candy,” while the director was stationed in England putting the finishing touches on his new film “RocknRolla,” filming a Nike commercial and “working on several scripts.”

Today, the Ritchies are “joyfully back together at home in London. All is well and wonderful in the Ritchie household,” Rosenberg said.

The couple have a son, Rocco, 7, and Madonna has a daughter, Lourdes, 11. In 2006, they began raising a Malawian boy they want to adopt.

Here’s Madonna’s album cover for “Hard Candy. She wears a cross around her neck, and appears on her album front wearing a sexy, boxing leotard. Around her middle is a championship style belt with the phrase “Give it to me,” written on it and “M-Dolla,” complete with dollar signs around it.

She is also wearing a multi-fingered ring in the snap, which reads “Mdolla.”

This picture was probably shot at the same time as her “Interview” magazine shoot.

Madonna and Justin “Get Smart”

eonline.jpgMadonna and Justin Timberlake are making a Smart move together.

A source tells me the duo’s debut collaboration, “4 Minutes to Save the World,” will be featured in the upcoming movie adaptation of Get Smart.

Nothing official yet, but my source says movie executives are trying to persuade Madonna and Justin to shoot a music video specifically tailored for the movie. They’ve already shot a video for the single, which is scheduled for a March 29 release.

Get Smart, starring Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway and based on the kitschy 1960s television comedy about a bumbling U.S. spy, opens June 20.

Lives everyday like it´s her last

13. March 2008 0 Comments

madonna-interview_april-2008.jpgMadonna has revealed she is living every day like it is her “last”.

The Material Girl star, 49, says she wants to achieve as much as she can with her life. So as a result she is working harder than ever, she told a US magazine.

She said: “You know what?

“Right now, I’m operating in the mode of ‘live every day like it’s your last day.’

“So there’s a sense of urgency in everything I do.”

The singer - who gave an interview to US magazine Interview - also told how she wrote several songs on new album, Hard Candy, with chart hunk Justin Timberlake.

Madonna´s gardener made her documentary

13. March 2008 0 Comments

26045424.gifMadonna has revealed that her Africa awareness documentary tilted ‘I Am Because We Are’ has been directed and filmed by her personal gardener.

Nathan Rissman used to make little movies of the singer’s kids, which persuaded her to approach him for her African documentary.

“He used to be my gardener… He’s a brilliant, lovely guy - one of those guys who came into my life and did every job. He was a runner, an intern, a gardener,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

“And then he started doing these little movies of my children and sending them to me, and making films out of photographs and just being really creative.

“One day I said, ‘I need somebody to document this,’ and then looked at him and said, ‘And that person is you.’ He really stepped up to the plate,” she added.

Madonna’s documentary showcases the problems faced by developing countries such as famine, poverty and AIDS that has to be solved.

“He spent a lot of time in Malawi, literally sleeping on the floors of people’s huts and waking up with chickens on his head.

“He really lived it and approached it with an open heart and so much gratitude. “People opened their hearts to him. I couldn’t have done that,” she added.

Madonna wishes to perform in opera houses

12. March 2008 0 Comments

m.jpgWashington, March 12: Queen of pop Madonna has expressed a desire to minimise her live concerts, and to perform more and more in opera houses.

She says that it is her dream to do shows in opera houses.

“I have always wanted to do intimate performances. My dream is to go around doing shows in opera houses but, you know, who makes money in opera houses?” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

“When I create my shows they are normally quite intricate. I have always wanted to do grand shows but in really intimate venues, which never seems to be possible,” she added.

Madonna played to arena audiences of thousands on her ‘The Confessions Tour’ in 2006.
